Come take a trip on the wild side with a sneak peek of Mara Hoffman‘s resort 2011 swim collection!
The NYC-based designer released three teaser images from her 2011 campaign, which coincided with the runway show of the same collection that occurred yesterday.
Hoffman, who studied at the Parsons School of Design in NYC as well as Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, focuses primarily on hand-dyed silks within her collections. Designing for just over a decade now, her creations are influenced and inspired by nature, travel and fantasy.
The three teaser images feature kaleidoscopic crystals and prints, as well as models who seem to be dually situated within a lush tropical environment and dry desert. The pseudo-reality photos remind me of rocker-cum-poet Jim Morrison, who dropped acid and ventured off into the Californian desert seeking and encountering mystical animals and spirits — just saying. But it sort of explains the random animals … I mean when was the last time you saw a monkey in the California desert?
Either way, I really like Hoffman’s vision behind the dream-like campaign – it’s fun, youthful and works well in representing the various swimsuit styles and patterns.
Can you guess which Mara Hoffman look I love? Okay, it was too obvious … the turbans in the second image (below) gave it away, huh?
Who else is excited to the rest of the fantastical jungle-themed, acid-soaked imagery?!
