When American boho fashion retailer Free People was putting together its new intimates collection, it didn’t have to look far for inspiration.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Free People asked frequent model Julie Beekman to pose with real-life boyfriend Ryan Lovelock for its new lookbook — and share some details from their storybook romance.
Beekman is familiar to Free People fans, an in-demand L.A. swimsuit model who has fronted several clothing and swim campaigns for the brand in recent years. Lovelock (yeah, that’s his real name) describes himself as a “vagabond” and met his lady love during a holiday in Capetown.
They were asked to fill out questionnaires about their relationship during the photoshoot in a New York loft, and Beekman describes the epic 12-hour first date that sparked their enduring romance.
And if that isn’t enough to make you envy the adorable couple, Beekman writes that the movie couple they most resemble is Allie and Noah from The Notebook. (Her beau, however, offers a geekier comparison — Wall-E and Eve from Wall-E.)
Altogether, it’s an incredibly sweet way to reinforce the message of Valentine’s Day and to showcase Free People‘s assortment of lacey, lounging, stay-in-bed-all-day pieces.
The lookbook, shot by Jess Roberts, is called Self, Sister, Soulmate and includes a variety of items from brands like For Love and Lemons and Only Hearts, as well as Free People‘s own Intimately house brand.
Below are more shots from Self, Sister, Soulmate; to learn more about the happy couple, read the behind-the-scenes article on Free People’s blog.
