Move over Adriana, Heidi, Miranda and Gisele — or any of the other great lingerie models who are paid to project body confidence and women’s empowerment.
You’ve met your match in Kanya Sesser.
The 23-year-old Thai beauty made jaw-dropping headlines earlier this year as the world’s first legless lingerie model. A motivational speaker, actress and professional surfer whose motto is “No Legs, No Limits”, Kanya has worked with Billabong, Nike and other brands, and was profiled this fall in People, Cosmopolitan and countless other media outlets.
Now, the Los Angeles resident is lending her unforgettable story — and body — to help promote underwear startup PantyProp, which creates period panties designed to keep pads and liners in place.
Kanya is the new brand ambassador for PantyProp‘s line of underwear solutions, and offers a truly humbling perspective on the familiar problems women endure during their periods.
“If you thought getting through the day on your period was hard enough, how about getting through the day without legs?,” the company says in a press release.
Kanya’s partnership with PantyProp is the focus of an extraordinary photo series by Robert Parrish called “Everyday (Un)Altered”. It shows Kanya in typical daily moments like reading a book, brushing her teeth or just taking a nap.
The images are “proof that no matter what life throws your way, big or small, nothing can get in the way of mastering life’s daily moments, tasks and challenges,” the company says.
Kanya was born without legs and was abandoned on the steps of a Buddhist temple in Thailand, before being adopted by new parents in Portland, Oregon, at age 5.
“With core missions aligned to empower women to live their best life, everyday, we are absolutely thrilled to collaborate with Kanya on this photo series,” said PantyProp founder Crystal Etienne. “Whatever challenges life hands you, from starting your period at an inopportune moment to living life with a physical difference, we hope these images will inspire women to master their day (un)altered; with courage, humor and confidence.”
PantyProp currently offers two brief styles and two bodysuits that include a double-layered crotch panel that conceals pads and holds them in place.
“For the woman who wears pads or panty liners, it would be an understatement to say that getting through that time of the month (or anytime) is a frustrating experience,” the company says. “The constant shifting, movement or dreaded leg-sticking from pads isn’t just uncomfortable, but anxiety-inducing.”
PantyProp‘s worry-free products are suitable for wearing to work, school, the gym, while sleeping or even on a date, the company says, and start at $18.99. A new line of hosiery will be added to the PantyProp collection in the new year.
Meanwhile, you can follow Kanya’s incredible story and adventures on Instagram. And expect to hear a lot more about her soon: she’s reportedly hoping to land a spot in the Winter Paralympics in the mono-ski competition.
