The semi-annual Curve Expo trade show in New York is meant to be a time for buyers and sellers of next season’s lingerie styles to do serious business. But it’s a lot more than that, too.
With 300 lingerie and swimwear brands on display, and up to 3,000 retail buyers from department stores, boutiques and e-commerce sites, Curve is also a chance for longtime industry friends and colleagues to renew acquaintances, gossip about trends, and celebrate each other’s achievements.
And for many new and emerging brands that spent months preparing for the three-day exhibition, Curve Expo is like a coming-out party, a chance to plunge into the mainstream of the busy, crowded and fast-moving industry.

Photographer John Brown of JSG Photography spent two days on the exhibition floor last weekend — his first assignment for Lingerie Talk — getting to know brand reps and designers and came away impressed by the artistry and diversity of the goods on display … and the sheer friendliness of all involved.
“I really enjoyed these people,” he told us. “I may have blushed a few times, but I am already looking forward to February.”
As you can see in many of the images in his gallery below, John learned what most of us in the lingerie business have known for a long time: a woman’s best curve is always her smile.
