What’s the coolest boudoir accessory for 2015? Don’t be surprised it’s not knotted whips, gold chains, crystal chokers or anything else from the fetish catalogue.
No, this year’s must-have accent piece is the crown, otherwise known as a tiara for grown-up princesses.
And you can thank New York jewelry label Young & Ng for coming up with a business idea that you wish you had thought of first: an intimates brand that combines luxury lingerie and matching headpieces.
Young & Ng has just released its debut lookbook for this intriguing combination, which will be available only through the company webshop beginning in February (there’s nothing to see there yet, but keep checking back).
Young & Ng (the brand name references the surnames of its founder’s mother and father, respectively) launched in 2010, specializing in highly original couture crowns and matching cuffs in gold, gunmetal and other precious metals. Their striking designs ranged from contemporary to antique and found favor among a variety of big-spending celebrities.
The move into lingerie is a fairly dramatic pivot for Young & Ng, which worked with an established industry partner to create the sexy intimates range. The French-inspired lingerie sets are designed to complement the headpieces, which are quite literally meant to be the crowning piece of your most seductive boudoir ensemble.
There are four artisanal lingerie ranges available in peach, gold and black colorways and in styles including boy shorts, bralettes, bodysuits and slinky high-waisted panties. There’s an obvious effort here to create a powerful visual impression without sacrificing comfort.
“The extraordinary attention to detail found in each piece, as well as the perfect pairing of lingerie and crowns, makes Young & Ng’s collections a sought-after gift,” the company said in a press release. “Young & Ng’s inspiration lies in time-honored tradition, crafting lingerie and accessories of the highest caliber materials with bespoke touches.”
The garment prices are affordable — bras from $45-55, panties from $29-65 — but you’ll want to save your pennies for the exquisite handmade crowns, which start at $180 and go up to $950 for the most elaborate rose gold creations.
