Curvy fashion models have been enjoying a hard-won upsurge in attention this year, thanks in part to the tireless campaigning of many of the world’s best-known plus-size spokespeople.
Now, one of Britain’s leading agencies is shining a spotlight on its bigger beauties with a glamorous photo campaign called “Femme Fatale”.
Models1 brought together five models from its ‘Curve’ division for the lingerie photoshoot at London’s posh Blakes Hotel.
The women photographed by Michelle George represent a size range from 12-18, and were outfitted in luxurious pieces from Boux Avenue, Fleur of England, Freya and Elomi.
You’ll spot a lot of visual echoes in the images below, but the most obvious precedent was Steven Meisel‘s groundbreaking cover for Vogue Italia three years ago, which featured three curvy supermodels and helped trigger a worldwide discussion about the use — or lack thereof — of larger women in fashion modeling.
The Femme Fatale shoot doesn’t appear to have any commercial purpose, other than to draw attention to Models1‘s stable of talent.
Here’s the full series, featuring models Iskra Lawrence, Charlotte Quita Jones, Karmi Pinning, Lucinda Warby and Stephanie Van Den Bergh.
