What’s the one thing that sets Victoria’s Secret Angels apart from all other fashion models — and all women, for that matter? Sure they get an employee discount on glitzy bras, and sure they get two weeks in St. Barts with Leonardo Dicaprio, but that’s not it.
It’s the wings.
They come in all sizes and all kinds of materials (including the first 3-D printed set this year), and wearing them is one of the great campy honors a supermodel can hope for. And they’re still one of the main reasons to tune in to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
This year’s VSFS, which was taped in New York last year, offers a really outstanding crop of wing styles, partly due to the inclusion of a Birds of Paradise segment that kept the feather industry busy all year long.
Below we’ve assembled a gallery showing some of the best wings from the upcoming show, which airs on CBS on Dec. 10.
There’s nothing here that equals the legendary 12′ tall set worn by Heidi Klum in 2003, but the creativity and artistry of Victoria’s Secret’s costumers is still abundantly evident.
Our faves? Behati Prinsloo‘s Sgt. Pepper-inspired military uniform and Karlie Kloss‘s colorful Peter Max-inspired butterfly wings. But then we’re children of the 60s.
What’s your fave, and who wore them best?!
