If you think New York is cold now, just wait a week.
Next week’s lingerie industry market week — the semi-annual cluster of trade shows and private showrooms where retailers get a glimpse at next fall’s designer collections — is promising to be the busiest and hottest ever for the booming industry.
In addition to Curve Expo trade fair featuring hundreds of lingerie and swim brands, buyers can attend runway shows at the inaugural Lingerie Fashion Week, view leading indie labels at an event sponsored by the Lingerie Collective, and see cutting-edge lifestyle brands at the Capsule NYC womenswear show.
But the hottest ticket in town is being offered by Maison Close, the super-erotic French brand known for its sheer catsuits, barely-there string ensembles and other NSFW creations.
Maison Close (which is exhibiting at Curve Expo) is staging a private burlesque show so buyers can see those slinky outfits at work.
The show will feature burlesque performer Mamzelle Viviane, who will be recreating the performance she staged for visitors a few days ago at Berlin Fashion Week (where these images came from).
The Maison Close show runs from 6 p.m. to midnight on Monday, Feb. 25 at 900 Broadway, Ste. 803. Admission is free but RSVPs are required. To reserve a spot, send your RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
And for burlesque fans who can’t make the MC event, don’t worry. Dita Von Teese is bringing her spectacular Strip Strip Hooray show back to New York for a four-night stand at the Gramercy Theater in March. The NYC production was cancelled last fall due to superstorm Sandy.
