Next week is like Christmas and Valentine’s Day rolled into one for a handful of UK lingerie labels, and it’s got nothing to do with Wills and Kate.
It’s the fifth annual London Burlesque Week, which promises to be a lot more spicy than any royal wedding, and attract a lot more queens to boot.
The five-day festival of fabulously overproduced cabaret and striptease shows (there’s even an all-male ‘Boylesk’ night!) is sponsored by retro label Secrets In Lace, and other brands are getting into the spirit of things too.
What Katie Did, the UK’s leading purveyor of elegant vintage foundations, is marking the occasion with the release of this satin lingerie set called Striptease.
The range is actually a revamped (pardon the pun) version of an existing WKD set that was inspired by legendary mid-century burlesque performers such as Gypsy Rose Lee and Lily St. Cyr.
The mix-and-match Striptease line includes two styles of knickers in silver satin with black piping, plus an underwire bra with a front clasp behind the bow. And the oversized ribbon ties give you something to grab when it’s time to fling the whole set across the room — or off the stage!
There’s also a matching garter, suspender belt and eyemask for those who want the full glamour girl look.
WKD’s Striptease line debuts on their website and store on April 26, coinciding with the kickoff for London Burlesque Week. Just don’t expect the other Kate to show up to cut the ribbon!
