Fall Preview: La Fée Verte Hits Its Stride
Posted by richard | April 5, 2011

The upcoming fall/winter 2011 collection from La Fée Verte shows a young fashion label hitting its stride — not by trying to impress new customers with bold new looks, but by staying true to the style signatures that have already earned it a loyal following.

The Montreal-based label is known for a few elegant, intimate styles that it does very well: slinky silk rompers and chemises, gorgeous shorts and lace-trimmed soft bras with a distinctive band.

It’s also developed a few design features that have become the brand’s signatures: heavy color-contrasting trim, alluring V-shaped necklines on many pieces, and generous use of eyelash lace trim.

Altogether, it adds up to a very refined aesthetic, and one upon which to build a major brand.

La Fée Verte’s fall-winter collection shows remarkable restraint by not veering too far from its catalogue. In fact, it’s noticeably similar to the current spring collection, but with a darker color palette — lovely silver, slate and indigo hues — as befits the season and, thankfully, more pieces and variations on its existing styles.

Which is not to say that the new collection doesn’t offer some surprises and, for existing LFV fans, some additional must-haves for your wardrode.

The gallery below shows just a handful of items from next fall’s line, but in particular you’ll want to take note of the gray silk pj pants with the jacquard print; the midnight blue silk sleep shirt with cream piping; and several stunning chemises featuring elegant necklines, peek-a-boo side cutouts and a variety of intricate back straps. There are also some new looks to LFV’s silk-and-lace bodies and some playful uses of sheer mesh panels and silk pleating.

We counted more than 40 styles in this collection, so watch for La Fée Verte to continue its very well-deserved ascent in the fashion world. (LFV is also expanding its RTW apparel line, much of which is designed to work well its lingerie pieces.)

Perhaps the best news for fans is the brand’s rapidly growing availability. LFV is popping up everywhere these days: Shopbop, Journelle, Faire Frou Frou, Intermixonline … to name just a few of its many distribution points.

Hard to imagine saying this, but La Fée Verte has given us lots of reasons to look forward to next winter! Here’s a few shots from the fall lookbook to get you dreaming.
