Hold on to your garters, ladies: Maison Close’s Spring 2011 collection is quite the knockout.
This best-selling brand makes burlesque wearable for all. Erotic and chic, each piece is a modern interpretation of Parisian seduction. (“Maison Close” is French for brothel or bordello; the lingerie itself is a literal translation.)
Maison Close first got our attention when it launched in 2007 and carved a spot for itself in the naughty-chic market. Soon, lingerie lovers everywhere took notice. The regal hues of black, purples and gold, the belle époque and Art Deco references, the mid-range prices: what’s not to love?
The latest Maison Close style ranges to hit stores are Villa Cancan, Pavillon Bellevue and Villa Divine.
Most notable in the spring looks in the infusion of ivories. This previously dark (and almost all-black) line is going lighter for spring.
Let’s check it out, shall we? Or, as MC’s official site says, “Let’s lift the veil on the scope of carnal pleasures.”
The Villa Divine collection is all about stretch mesh and gorgeous lace. The catsuit (above right) makes a statement with a plunging open back. While this is totally seduction-appropriate, it can be worn beneath your everyday wardrobe with lace peeking out from beneath a suit or dress. The Divine corset bra (left) uses corset boning to keep its structure rather than underwire and pairs perfectly with the lace-patterned suspender thong. Garter straps are detachable.
The ivory modal pieces in the Pavillon Bellevue collection stand out for spring. Daring girls might want to don the open-back suspender boyshort (right). Don’t worry, it’s not crotchless; it’s just a little saucy. Team it with the more modest ribbed garter tank (left).
The Villa Cancan range might make you want to watch Moulin Rouge again. The diamond-grid black mesh is designed to get you noticed. The Cancan dress is sheer, snug, and underwire-free; it’s a second skin for the bold. The Cancan bustier is vintage-inspired with molded nude-lined push-up cups. That’s the catsuit pictured above.
