The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Dior is continuing its John Galliano label and sure enough the Galliano fall runway show for Paris Fashion Week went off as planned, despite the absence of its disgraced namesake.
Dior’s declaration of confidence in the label, though, has the whiff of “contractual obligation” and one has to wonder how long the storied fashion house will maintain its stake in the Galliano name.
The images here are from the Spring 2011 lingerie and swimwear collection from the Galliano label, which was filled with dramatic prints (newspapers!) and bold, sexy cuts.
Alas, in an ironic precursor to last week’s dénouement, this photoshoot became better known for its ridiculous photoshopping (that’s an almost-unrecognizable Erin Heatherton) than for the collection’s brash styles.
Will there ever be another John Galliano lingerie collection? Too soon to tell, but ask yourself this: if your beloved strips down to his JG briefs, revealing that oversized romanesque font shouting Galliano’s name, what kind of message does it send? Talk about a mood killer.
