Ayten Gasson’s Garden of Delights
Posted by amy | January 24, 2011

A few months ago it was reported that Lady Gaga had become so enamored of silk underthings that she would wear nothing else from now on. At the time, I recall thinking: “Ayten Gasson’s going to have to hire some help.”

Gasson is the London-based designer of vintage-esque lingerie pieces inspired by British history and made with the finest silks trimmed with locally sourced Nottingham lace. She’s as much an artist with silk as a fashion designer, and has earned a devoted following among celebs and commoners alike.

Gasson’s SS2011 collection has just been released and it certainly blows some fresh air through the dusty old halls of British history! There are four new ranges in the collection, including some new style additions to the AG catalogue.

Gasson puts a lot of thought into her designs, and this collection was inspired by shapes and details found in traditional British flowers, all of which are reflected in her color choices: the stunning peachy rose (above), a sweet pea cerise, a freesia white, and a black orchid range. Doesn’t that color palette conjure up images of a summery English garden?

Gasson is best known for her very British skirted knickers, teddies and eye masks, and this time she’s added a couple of new styles — the skirted tap pant shown above, and a padded silk balcony bra.

There’s also a stunning bridal line which some should tell Kate M. about! (And that’s not hyperbole — Gasson’s lace mill supplied lace for both Princess Di and Sarah Ferguson’s wedding dresses.)

Ayten Gasson products are available online and through a variety of high-end boutiques such as Oh Baby in the U.S. Also look for them in Topshop.

There’s also a special discount available for purchases made before Valentine’s Day. Use the Ayten Gasson website and type in the discount code VAL20 to get 20% off at the checkout!
