Home / Ari Dein’s Boutique Hotel Collection: Luxury From A Forgotten Era

Sometimes after an especially frustrating day, or when I’m in need of some ‘me’ time, nothing makes me feel more luxurious than basking in fine lingerie. And by ‘fine’ lingerie, I mean pulling out the pieces you’d normally reserve for those special occasions and treating yourself instead.

Of course, what could be more apropos than to spend a day of self-indulgence while adorning your body in hand-crafted, 100% silk lingerie that evokes another era of sophistication, allure and femininity?

Luckily, Arielle Shapiro of Manhattan-based Ari Dein lingerie shares a similar philosophy — Shapiro is inspired by “a self-purchasing female who enjoys sophisticated luxury even in her downtime.” I think I’ve just met my new lingerie match.

And really, who better to understand luxury than a New York native whose family produced furs and sold them at the iconic Waldorf Astoria showroom?! Now, biannually, and following family tradition, Ari (Arielle) also shows her fine lingerie at the historic hotel.

The Waldorf is also the inspiration for Ari’s Boutique Hotel line, which combines architectural details (she has a BA in fine art and art history) with exceptional tailoring resulting in a line that is unique, nostalgic and versatile. The trim pattern for the Boutique Hotel cami (above, in tainted white) and the chemise (below) is actually taken from the art deco wainscotting and wall trim in the Waldorf’s grand old suites, and the purple color scheme is called “peacock”, named for the hotel’s gourmet dining room Peacock Alley.

The beautiful 100% silk pieces are hand-crafted in New York City’s garment district, and recall a forgotten era when custom lingerie was made to order. (By the way, if you’re a Gossip Girl fanatic you may have spotted Ari’s Boutique Hotel pieces on Upper East Side princess Blair (right) in last week’s episode)!

As the old adage goes, you don’t need a million bucks to feel like a million bucks (although who are we kidding, it would be nice), and Ari Dein lingerie is not out of reach financially speaking — but would be considered an investment piece for persons (students) like moi.

Offered in sizes XS-L, with prices ranging from $185 for a silk shortie to $418 for silk gown, Ari Dein lingerie is the perfect indulgence for yourself or that special someone.
