Ireland looks ready for battle. Canada looks trapped. Norway looks cold. And Sweden looks set to take flight.
But none of them — the 27 finalists in the third Triumph Inspiration Awards — looks like anything you’ve ever seen in your neighborhood lingerie boutique.
That could change on September 16, when a winner from annual student lingerie design competition is chosen at a gala dinner in London. The winning designer will earn £ 15,000 cash, a job offer from host Triumph Lingerie, and will see their winning design made and sold in Triumph stores around the world.
The public can also play a role in the competition. From now until August 31, Triumph is inviting consumers to vote for their favorite design through the TIA website. And one lucky voter will be chosen to receive a VIP all-expense-paid trip to the London final ceremony next month.
The TIAs are the highlight of the year for lingerie design students around the world, with 27 countries holding national competitions to choose their representative at the international final.
This year’s competitors were asked to come up with unique designs based on the theme “Shape Sensations”, exploring the way structure and shape contribute to the design of foundation garments. Students could enter a bra/brief combination or a full bodysuit, with the only requirement being that it must include an underwire in the bust — the starting point for all shaping functions in lingerie.
Have a look at the 27 extravagant finalists competing for this year’s TIA top prize, and be sure to vote for your favorite. And yes, that’s supermodel Helena Christensen (who’s also one of the judges) modeling all the outfits!
