Shapeez, the Maryland label that revolutionized the shapewear market a few years ago with the unbelievably successful Unbelievabra, is taking a big step forward into fashion lingerie.
Shapeez recently unveiled the latest addition to its collection — the multi-tasking Lacee, a lace-lycra hybrid with molded cups that offers the same shaping and control as the Unbelievabra, but in a much more elegant package.
Billed as the “ultimate all-in-one fashion layering piece”, the Lacee is both a bra and a body shaper, but it also works just fine as a camisole with its flattering scalloped lace. Easy on the eyes, but who needs to know how hard it’s working underneath?
The Lacee is available in both a long and short version, in black or white, and in 36 sizes. Prices are from $95-110 depending on the style.
Of course, women everywhere know about the Unbelievabra, launched by Shapeez founder Staci Berner in 2007 as a solution to get rid of bra lines and fat bulges caused by poorly fitting bras. The Unbelievabra worked by eliminating bra bands and closures altogether, combining a molded underwire bra with nylon-lycra control fabric to distribute support.
The Unbelievabra has legions of devoted fans (and countless imitators), and last year Shapeez built on its success by adding the “Tankee”, for wear under sleeveless outfits and tank tops.
The Lacee takes the company a step further, from creating back-smoothing, muffin-top-slaying control undergarments into fashion pieces that are meant to be seen. You can find it online at shapeez.com and at lingerie boutiques in Canada and the US.
