Whew! I’ve been enjoying the sweltering heat wave that’s passing through my neck of the woods (seriously, I almost suffered from heat exhaustion yesterday trying to perfect my Bundchen tan) and while I’m sure none of you care to even think about the impending winter, trust me, after seeing the new winter offerings from Rosa Cha you might just be tempted to book that cold-escape vacation.
The Brazilian swimwear and lingerie label showed their 2010 winter swimwear collection at Sao Paulo Fashion Week in January, with their signature colorful and sexy designs.
This time around creative director Alexandre Herchcovitch drew inspiration from lacy underthings and presented a collection that begged spectators to ask, “Is it lingerie or swimwear?”
Models were sent down the catwalk, their hips sashaying, in retro-inspired styles like lace-adorned bandeaus and high-waisted briefs as well as sweetheart-neck bodysuits with corset paneling and mock-boning detail.
One of the to-die-for styles is a sophisticated lilac-gray playsuit (top left) that model Chanel Iman (who also happens to be featured in the campaign) wore, and which would look fantastic pool-side as it would in the boudoir.
Also included within the collection is a boudoir-esque silk robe with waist tie and delicate lace epaulets. Capping off the outfits (literally), the models donned 50s-style bathing caps and equestrian hats.
Also presented within the collection were swimwear styles constructed from pastel watercolor/tie-dye fabric reminiscent of Mara Hoffman’s kaleidoscopic prints. To relate the two different sub-collections, Herchcovitch incorporated black lace inserts into the colorful swimwear styles while the bustier swimsuit also recalled lingerie.
After seeing Rosa Cha’s winter collection, I am actually anticipating the cold front’s arrival — the only question that remains to be decided is: “St. Lucia or Turks and Caicos?”.
