Lingerie powerhouse La Perla will be undergoing some changes this autumn/winter. No, the company is not changing creative directors, so don’t worry about La Perla’s alluring lingerie becoming the atrocity that, say, hot-mess Lindsay Lohan inflicted upon Ungaro. In fact — hard to imagine — La Perla’s going to be all that much better.
The Italian lingerie label has implemented a new “brand strategy” that reflects the company’s return to its roots and its rediscovery of the essence of La Perla style.
When customers visit the La Perla website in the fall, beachwear and lingerie styles will be separated into three different brand categories: La Perla, La Perla Villa Toscana and La Perla Studio.
The La Perla collection includes styles in the signature Italian aesthetic we have come to know — the combination of artisanship and expression of romance and femininity — while La Perla Studio consists of basic-chic urban styles designed for exceptional fit and comfort and La Perla Villa Toscana embodies Tuscany’s casual-chic naturalness.
However, you won’t have to wait until the fall to scope out the new style categories because the label has introduced three “icon collections” that coincide with the autumn release.
The latest collection from La Perla is their New Venus line, inspired by the Botticelli painting, and representing “two strong elements, the pearl and shell, which symbolize the birth of a new Venus.”
Indeed, the beautifully crafted lingerie is a definite reflection of Botticelli’s goddess. Scalloped bras resemble the ridges and grooves of seashells, while the ivory color symbolizes the pearl, or in Botticelli’s representation, the new woman emerging from the shell.
To bring out your inner goddess, the sexy styles within the collection include a demi-cup bra, t-shirt bra, briefs, thongs and even a robe and nightgown.
Some pieces from the New Venus collection are shown below. They are currently available at laperla.com, but hurry because these styles won’t last long!
