Lisa Marie Fernandez is making quite the splash with her debut collection of surf-inspired swimwear. The eighties-ish designs have graced the pages of numerous editorial spreads, and are fit to channel THE original Bond girl, Ursula Andress (see below).
Designed by New York-based fashion stylist Fernandez, the collection echoes the sleek athelticism of scuba gear. What sets Fernandez apart from all other designers referencing the prevalent surf trend this summer is the innovative material her suits use. Created from a luxe version of neoprene, the fabric is made to perform either by molding to one’s curves or supporting them, pushing everything into the right place without underwire or padding.
What I love about LMF swimsuits is their simplicity; the color-blocking and bold colors totally reference the eighties, but with a fresh, modern perspective. The swimsuits give the wearer a taut silhouette, while the oversize zippers are a nod to scuba wetsuits. Not only is the collection ultra-cool, but there is a style to suit every individual from glam sunbather to athletic surfer.
A perfect blend of sporty and sexy is the halter-style Lisa Marie (above; $355), while the Jasmine Maillot (below; $385) is bonafide Bond-girl; adjust the zipper up or down for sultry sunbathing. The Leigh (bottom left; $345) is a bustier-style bikini that looks as chic poolside as it does paired under a denim jacket, while the icy blue seamed Genevieve (bottom right $300) takes its style cues from retro lingerie.
