One designs ultra-feminine frocks and clothing, while the other specializes in apparel for the surf/snowboard lifestyle; yet together, Cynthia Rowley and Roxy have produced a stylish collection inspired by the sun, sand and surf.
While it may appear an odd partnership, Rowley is in fact an avid surfer (by the way, her coolness factor just sky-rocketed), and was eager to collaborate with Roxy. And it appears that, in this case, opposites have indeed created a fashionable outcome.
The swimwear within the capsule collection includes a black Tanlines ‘monokini’ with monochromatic metal, flathead embellishments, which I can assure you will yield some serious tan lines! My personal picks of the bunch are the more ‘surf inspired’, color-blocked swimsuits in neon hues like the Neo-Preen bikini with bandeau top and boyshort, and a one-piece maillot with frontal-zipper detail, fittingly entitled Bond.
And of course, a swimwear collection from a surfer brand must incorporate its quintessential piece – a wetsuit. Cynthia Rowley’s Green Room wetsuit, with its sorbet-hued, color-blocked pattern, will undoubtedly garner attention both on the board and off.
Although it’s the first partnership for Roxy with an outside designer, Randy Hild, executive vice president of marketing at Roxy, confidently attests that it’s a successful decision: “Our mission at Roxy has always been to have one foot in the surf world and another foot in the fashion world.”
Luckily, for beachbums and fashionistas looking to hit the waves in style, Rowley’s collection just launced this month and is available at Cynthia Rowley boutiques worldwide and online at roxy.com.
