I have recently developed an affinity for clothing in neutral shades. I would not say that I have the complementary skin tone for such shades (i.e., olive or tan) yet I cannot seem to resist the urge to purchase fleshy-hued clothing.
It’s not solely limited to clothing either, as I also possess a large collection of neutral toned lingerie which I wear daily, because – well – it goes with everything. My boyfriend constantly mentions that I always wear the same bra (sheesh, don’t guys notice the difference between a demi-cup and a balconet?) and that maybe I should experiment with other styles.
It’s not that I don’t love wearing lingerie. It’s quite the contrary, actually; I just find nudes and neutrals in bras and panties are suitable for every outfit.
So, imagine my excitement upon learning that one of the major trends this Spring/Summer is neutral and nude shades! I’m even more ecstatic that a lingerie line I love, Stella McCartney, has introduced this palette into her latest collection.
In comparison to last year’s bright selection of lingerie, this year McCartney has embraced the neutral trend with gusto, creating a line inspired by the twenties and fifties. The styles look feminine and romantic, yet simultaneously fresh and youthful.
I can envision myself wearing the Stella McCartney bustier below with a high-waisted skirt and cardigan, or pairing one of the bras under a sheer blouse. Not only are the styles neutral in tone and retro in style, but I’m sure that even the most undiscerning man (ahem, my boyfriend), will notice the pretty details.
