Hosiery and tights always seem to be the last of my concerns when it comes to planning an outfit, and it’s a shame, because tights can literally transform an otherwise blasé outfit into something very eye-catching.
And it seems like this spring, legwear is bigger than ever! Wolford‘s new spring/summer 2010 collection is abundant with pattern, texture and colors on cue with the latest trends seen on the runway and on celebs.
Take for instance, the delicate Vichy sock, with a modern houndstooth print in delectable summer colors. Like UK celeb Alexa Chung (right), pair with a skirt and open-toe heels for a retro, feminine look.
Even controversial pop-artist Lady Gaga will be going ‘goo-goo’ over the intricate patterned Circles tights, while burlesque vixen Dita Von Teese will be swooning over the retro Hot Dots tights (top right), and the cheeky (literally), Indivual 12 Stay-Hip (top left).
Whether you want to turn heads in Wolford’s textured Dazzle tights )bottom left) or the twenties-inspired Fringe tights (bottom right), or stick with the tried, tested and true classics, there is something to appeal to even the most fickle shopper.

Lovers of fine lingerie around the world wait breathlessly for the unveiling of a new collection from Aubade, and the French luxury label’s S/S 2010 collection is no disappointment.
With 9 distinct lines and two loungewear lines as well, there’s enough in the new Aubade offering to thrill, enchant and surprise the most jaded eyes or the weariest shopper.
This year, Aubade’s army of innovative designers scoured the globe for inspiration. And many of their designs draw upon exotic influences from ancient cultures with a reputation for seduction and intrigue. Leave it to the French to go looking for love – and find it wherever they go.
From the colorful Geisha-tinged influences found in the Romance À Kyoto line to the Arabian Nights theme of the Beauté Persane line, Aubade has assembled a lingerie collection that echoes with the history of human desire and submission.
Aubade employs intricate Leavers lace in several collections to evoke an oriental feel; another line is embroidered to resemble henna tattoos; yet another adopts colors associated with Indian saris. (Look at the small image on the right to get an idea of the detail and workmanship of Aubade’s decorative art!)
Several lines in the new collection deserve special notice:
There’s a huge amount of variety and innovation throughout the Aubade collection (check out the stunning molded cup bandeau in the top photo!), and you can spend forever admiring it. The photos below will give you just a glimpse; hover over the pictures and find the name of the line that each piece belongs to, then head over to Aubade to learn more.
Meticulously planned and flawlessly assembled, the entire Aubade collection is nothing short of magnificent from beginning to end. Take a bow, Aubade, while the rest of us catch our breath.
Can you believe that, upon entering the modeling world, Bianca Balti was initially told that she was too common and average-looking?! Balti, with her olive skin, plush lips, brunette tresses and piercing blue eyes, is anything but average-looking.
Hailing from the northern region of Lombardy in Italy, brunette beauty Balti has been featured on numerous highly esteemed magazine covers and graced the runways of established and praised fashion houses like Chanel, Valentino and Christian Dior.
Adding to her impressive roster of career successes is the latest Spring/Summer 2010 campaign for Italian brand Intimissimi. Surrounded by pastel, floral wallpaper, worn-in books and antique, distressed furniture, a natural and beautifully styled Balti poses languidly in the romantic setting.
The collection features matching lingerie sets, with feminine details like lace, ruffles and whimsical prints. The fresh Sofia lace balconettte (top photo) with matching lace brazilian thong is a must-have for me, while I also like the style in a fun, floral print with ruffle culotte. Also featured is a line of fresh, cotton sleepwear/loungewear that consists of tanks, chemises, sleep shorts and pants.
Unfortunately, as Intimissimi is no longer carried at Victoria’s Secret (and they have yet to inform consumers as to where it will be sold), I guess we’ll just have to sit tight with anticipation! At least we have a beautifully shot campaign, not to mention gorgeous model, to admire.

If you’re lucky enough to be naturally endowed with um, larger assets, while you may garner the attention of envious women, bra shopping can be a hassle. The majority of fashion lingerie brands will offer sizes up to a DD; however if yours range beyond that, most often you have to visit a specialty store where bras (more often than not) resemble straitjacket contraptions.
Luckily, for a girl with a larger chest and style, Panache lingerie has released the Superbra collection, ranging from a D to a KK cup size! Panache lingerie is known for their three core values: fit, support and comfort. The brand prides itself on designing high-end, trend-driven lingerie for the modern woman with curves.
The 2010 Superbra collection combines functionality with fashion in a multitude of styles. There are so many various options, it’s almost too hard to choose! The styles offered range from everyday, full coverage bras to sultry lace corsets, with coordinating briefs, thongs or boyshorts.
For everyday lingerie, the Porcelain seamless bra is great to pair under t-shirts, as well as the Zara plunge multi-way bra. Fun for spring is the playful, floral Tango Spirit set and the Saffron pink multi-print ruffle bra. Looking for something with a little more sex appeal? Opt for the Confetti ivory lace corset with suspenders or the Ariza black balconet bra with sheer, lace detail.
Panache lingerie will have your girls looking their best, while providing you with the support and comfort you need!

I have to admit a little secret: I am slightly obsessed with Whitney Port from The City (okay, so it’s not that surprising), but I just love her eclectic style, bubbly personality and ambitious attitude. I feel like we’d make really good friends … well, at least in my alternate reality we do. Anyway, upon catching up on the latest buzz surrounding Port, I discovered that she loves to wear lingerie from Belabumbum. So, of course I had to check it out!
I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into with such a cheeky name, but Miss Port’s taste did not let me down! Belabumbum, is actually pronounced ‘bella-boom!-boom!’, and means ‘beautiful bottom’ in Portuguese. The line was created in 2001 by two college friends, Alyssa Weiss and Heidi Rauch.
The lingerie line encompasses essential, fashion forward pieces like bright printed separates as well as lacy tops and bottoms. The pieces are designed to lounge in, sleep in or wear on a special evening, and are playful yet sophisticated. Belabumbum lingerie is known for their comfortable fabrics, bold colors and signature, luscious laces.
For the eco-conscious (but nontheless stylish) gal, Weiss and Rauch also launched a green collection in 2007, using bamboo and organic fruit-dyed cotton.
A few pieces that caught my eye are the Butterfly lace bra and boycut brief, the pretty Copacabana lace bralette and boycut brief, and the romantic Filigree lace bralette.
After seeing Belbumbum’s lingerie, it’s not surprising that Whitney raved about the line; it’s both comfortable and cute – not an easy combination to achieve!
