Chantal Thomass has been unveiling her Fall 2010 lingerie collection in bits and pieces over the past couple of months, much like a striptease. Which, if you’re familiar with her lingerie, is appropriate.
Thomass is revered in France, where she is known as the madame of Rue Saint Honoré in Paris, site of her flagship store — and a must-see on your tourist itinerary if you want to revel in genuinely sexy French knickers for an afternoon.
It appears as though Thomass’ full collection for the fall-winter season is now in place, with a total of seven lines — some new, and some retooled favorites — available at Chantal Thomass boutiques across Europe and numerous online retailers as well.
As expected, the new Thomass collection is playful and naughty and more than a little risqué, with generous nods to burlesque and can-can traditions, plus a little modern-day glam thrown in.
Even the names of her lines reflect Thomass’ bold approach to seductive lingerie: Impensable (“Unthinkable”) offers pieces in a two-tone braid and features pleats, ruffles, and bows; while the consumer favorite Malicieuse line (“Malicious”) is back with more color variations under all that ruffled trim.
Although Thomass favors bold and contrasting color schemes in many of her lines (she even did a tweed line this spring!), you’ll want to check out the new Courtiglam line (bottom photo) — very elegant, retro-inspired satin and lace creations in flat grey or ivory.
For sheer fun, have a look at the Soubrettisse line (top photo below), with its playful variations on the ageless French maid fantasy! Likewise with the sleek, satiny Lonely Poet line (photo above): look closely at the photo and you’re bound to get a chuckle when you see what Thomass has done with a man’s necktie!
The fall 2010 collection also includes some refinements to Thomass’ Tulle Froncé line of classic mesh pieces which are now available in a dramatic purple and a bows print.
Click on the images below for a sample from each line in the Chantal Thomass autumn-winter 2010-11 collection. And check out her website — it’s one of the most original and amusing in the entire lingerie industry!
Eres has chosen titian-haired Australian beauty Tiah Eckhardt to front the upcoming campaign for their new Fall 2010 lingerie line.
As you can tell from the photos above and below, the Eres campaign leans heavily on earthy rust tones, which match Tiah’s tresses with almost eery precision.
Tiah is perhaps best known for her work with Agent Provocateur, and she’s been recently rumored to be in the running for a part in the next instalment of the X-Men movie franchise.
As for the new Eres line — well, we’ve been drooling over it all afternoon and will have something meaningful to say once we clean this place up!
I guess Germany isn’t satisfied with reaching the top of the football world this summer — because German retail label Lascana clearly has its sights set on conquering the lingerie world, too.
In the past couple of weeks, Lascana has released generous campaigns for both its summer lingerie collection and 2010 swimwear lines, both fronted by Russian beauty Irina Shayk.
Irina (who is sometimes credited as Irina Sheik) is well known for appearances in the SI Swimsuit Issue, Victoria’s Secret catalogs, and as the face for numerous brands such as Guess and, recently, Beach Bunny Swimwear.
But the Lascana assignment may be her most important to date. Given her profile throughout the catalog, Lascana is clearly hoping Irina will do for them what Kelly Brook has done for Ultimo in the UK — carry the brand on her sleek, high-priced shoulders.
Lascana is a relatively young European lingerie and swimwear label, but with major muscle behind it. It’s part of the massive Otto Group of retail companies (ie. Crate and Barrel), so it knows merchandising and marketing.
In Europe, Lascana has a range of retail outlets, but it’s probably best known for its mail order and e-shopping capabilities. And, since it secured licensing arrangements that allow it to sell other lingerie brands such as Passionata, Triumph and Marie Claire, Lascana is able to offer most lingerie styles in a size and style range that other retailers are finding hard to beat.
Have a look at the photo galleries below and you’ll see what I mean (the first 14 pics are from the lingerie catalog; the rest from the swimwear collection). The Lascana summer lingerie series ranges from slinky slips to oh-so-cool silk pajamas to a number of push-up bras, and lots in between. The swimwear offerings are equally diverse in color, pattern and styles.
(Our only complaint is that there’s no English version of the Lascana website or e-store. You can still make your way around the site fairly easily, but we can’t help thinking that an English option would broaden Lascana’s growing appeal and market presence.)
As for Irina, it’s likely we won’t be seeing much of her for awhile, now that BF (and new underwear model) Cristiano Ronaldo has some time on his hands.
Move over Natalia Vodianova, there appears to be a new beauty featured in Etam’s new Fall-Winter 2010 campaign! That’s right, model Cassandra Smith is the newest bod to grace the pages of the French lingerie label’s latest lookbook.
The 18-year-old Cali native was actually scouted just this past February when she appeared onstage with her heavy metal band, In Coma. Here’s to hoping that she wore pants…although perhaps a Momsen-esque outfit landed her the campaign?
The new Etam F/W 2010 collection is separated into three distinctive style categories such as Modern Ballet, Very Couture and Sensual Military.
Modern Ballet takes inspiration from the tutus and bodices of ballerinas, reflected in a soft color palette with flirty styles that grace the curves of a woman’s body in movement. Taking style cues from high-end fashion, Very Couture consists of elegant and glamorous styles constructed in delicate, luxurious fabrics, while Sensual Military features styles with masculine and feminine details like the combination of bold camouflage and delicate lace.
I really like the tomboy-edge Smith brings to the photos, as when she wears the naughty schoolgirl knee-highs with men’s-inspired oxfords (above) — she’s like a cross between buxom beauty Lara Stone and rock-n-roll model Georgia Jagger.
And, of course, I love the lingerie (I’ve said it time and again, the French know their knickers!). From the feminine lilac and lace-adorned set, to the monochromatic sheer camouflage bodysuit and playful gingham bra and high-waisted brief, I want everything!
Wanna know the best part? You don’t even have to settle for salivating over the pieces in anticipation of their arrival because you can find them online at Etam.com now!
Animal prints are everywhere in lingerie collections this year, so they were bound to show up in the Victoria’s Secret catalogue. VS may not always be a style trendsetter, but they sure know how to ride a wave.
The fashion powerhouse recently unveiled its new Summer 2010 lingerie collection, with many of the top VS models aping (pardon the pun) that comic book and screen icon, Sheena, Queen of the Desert (see the last image below).
The new VS collection includes several bra and panty combinations that feature eye-popping animal prints — just what you need to unleash your inner zebra or leopard, battle some unscrupulous poachers, or simply turn your boudoir into a jungle for the night.
The new Victoria’s Secret pieces build on their most established and popular lines, such as the deep-plunge push-up bras, lace thongs and briefs, and seamless T-shirt bras. We like the lacie hiphugger and Miraculous bra combo (left photo, second row) — although there oughta be a law again impersonating a snow leopard, dontcha think?
You’ll find the new summer lingerie pieces scattered throughout the Victoria’s Secret website.
